A rampaging elephant ran away from a Dussehra mela as it trampled cars and went on a rampage in Saran, Bihar on Saturday. Videos of the incident have gone viral on social media.
An elephant went on a rampage during a Dussehra mela (fair) in Saran district of Bihar on Saturday, trampling several cars and triggering chaos in the market area for over two hours before a mahout managed to pacify the tusker and guided the irate beast to a secluded garden.
Videos of the the incident which have been widely shared on social media platforms showed the enraged elephant, with several people riding on its back, rampaging through the streets of Saran, Bihar, ramming and trampling several cars and terrorising the locals.

According to the police, a team was rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident but were unable to bring the beast under control.

Later, a mahout was brought in, who managed to pacify the giant tusker and guided it towards a secluded garden along with a team of forest department official, they said.
Police said the animal damaged several cars during its rampage, adding that a person was also injured in the incident and was rushed to a hospital where his condition is stated to be stable.
However, it remains unclear what triggered the elephant and sent it on a rampage.
