Weather today: IMD issues ‘yellow alert’ for heavy rainfall across south, northeast India; Delhi to stay dry

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘yellow alert’ for parts of Peninsular and Northeast India, predicting heavy rainfall in several regions. Areas under the yellow alert include Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, with the likelihood of continued rains for the next six days.

In the southern states, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Coastal and South Interior Karnataka, and Lakshadweep. Isolated showers will also impact North Interior Karnataka, Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Northeast India, particularly Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Meghalaya, is likely to experience isolated heavy rains today.

Delhi weather report

Meanwhile, the weather in Delhi remains calm, with no rainfall expected in the coming days. The maximum daytime temperature is forecasted at 35°C, while the minimum will hover around 23°C. The skies will be partly cloudy.
