IndiGo launches daily direct flights from New Delhi to Tirupati aiming to enhance pilgrim connectivity

This new route will be IndiGo’s tenth direct connection to Tirupati, following existing links from Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolhapur, Madurai, and five other cities.

IndiGo has officially launched a new route connecting Delhi, the capital city, to Tirupati, renowned for its historic temples and spiritual significance. The operations commenced on October 5, 2024, marking a significant step toward improving accessibility for pilgrims travelling from Delhi to the sacred city. This new route will be IndiGo’s tenth direct connection to Tirupati, following existing links from Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolhapur, Madurai, and five other cities.

The introduction of the Delhi-Tirupati route is a reflection of government initiatives aimed at promoting spiritual tourism by enhancing connectivity among major pilgrimage destinations across the country. With the growing demand for religious travel, this route offers travellers an efficient and timely solution, allowing them to embark on their spiritual journeys with ease. The new flights are expected to cater to the needs of thousands of devotees who regularly visit Tirupati to seek blessings at the famous Tirumala Venkateswara Temple, one of the most revered and wealthiest temples in the world.

In addition to the new route, IndiGo is also expanding its operations by doubling the frequency of the Delhi-Aizawl route from five to ten weekly flights. Similarly, the airline will increase the frequency on the Delhi-Dimapur route from five to seven weekly flights. These enhancements provide greater convenience and flexibility for passengers traveling to these important northeastern destinations, further solidifying IndiGo’s commitment to catering to diverse travel needs.

Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, expressed his enthusiasm about the new routes, stating, “We are pleased to announce daily direct flights connecting Delhi and Tirupati, addressing the substantial demand for travel to this wonderful city in Andhra Pradesh. This new route will facilitate seamless connectivity that will enable customers to make the most of their visit to the city’s historic temples.” He further emphasised the airline’s dedication to offering affordable, punctual, and hassle-free journeys while maintaining a standard of courtesy and care.

Tirupati, nestled in the lush hills of Andhra Pradesh, is famous for its Tirumala Venkateswara Temple, drawing millions of devotees annually. Beyond its spiritual significance, the city is celebrated for its delicious laddoo prasadam, the breathtaking seven hills of Tirumala, and nearby natural attractions like Talakona Waterfalls and Chandragiri Fort. Additionally, Tirupati is emerging as a hub for education and business, with expanding infrastructure and modern facilities to support its growth.
