BYD India is all set to launch the new BYD eMax 7 electric MPV in the Indian market tomorrow i.e, October 8, 2024. The new EV MPV is essentially the facelifted version of the BYD e6 and features cosmetic changes, an updated interior with more features, tech, three-row seating and much more. Ahead of its launch tomorrow let’s take a look at everything we know so far.
Talking about the bookings, Interested customers can book the vehicle online or by visiting their nearest dealership, The booking amount is set at Rs 51,000 and the deliveries are expected to begin from this festive season. The company also announced special offers for customers who book the EV MPV before October 8, 2024, and take delivery on or before March 25, 2025. This offer includes benefits of up to Rs 51,000 and 7kW and 3 kW chargers to the first 1,000 customers for the first 1,000 customers.

In terms of design, the overall silhouette of the new eMAX 7 remains the same as the e6 but features redesigned front and rear ends. It features a re-designed front end with a new set of LED headlights and at the rear, it gets connected LED lighting with a re-designed tailgate and bumper. Other highlights include newly designed alloy wheels, shark fin antenna, integrated rear spoiler and much more.
Moving inside, the overall layout remains the same but the MPV gets minor tweaks. It’s expected to be offered with both 6-7 seating layout with leatherette upholstery. Other features include a large touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, connected tech, wireless charger, panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, faux wood and aluminium inserts, re-designed steering wheel with mounted controls and much more.

Talking about the battery pack and electric motor, overseas, the BYD eMax 7 is offered with two battery pack options – a 55.4kWh unit with a claimed range of 420km and a 71.8kWh unit with a 530km range. The e6 offers the 71.8kWh battery in India and it’s expected that the eMAX 7 will get the same setup. The e-motor in the MPV puts out 204 hp of power and 310Nm of torque.
In terms of safety, the eMAX 7 is expected to come with level 2 ADAS functionalities, multiple airbags, ESC, TCS, all four-wheel disc brakes, electric parking brakes and much more. The MPV is expected to be priced over Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom) and will be bought in India via the CBU route. There are no direct rival to the e-MPV, however, in terms of pricing, it goes up against the Toyota Innova Hycross and Innova Crysta.
