A 27-year-old Russian TikTok star, Arina Glazunova, died after falling in an underpass in Tbilisi, Georgia. Glazunova tripped into the knee-high wall of a subway station’s stairs while filming a video with her friends, resulting in a fatal fall. The video of the tragic incident has now gone viral on social media sparking multiple reactions regarding safety concerns of the structure. In a murky twist of fate, Arina was singing ‘For The Last Time’ by the Russian boyband Hunger Boys in the video.
According to local media reports, Arina was rushed to the hospital but died from head injuries and a broken neck. After her death, a memorial was placed at the site. Arina made a video of herself and her friend while they were strolling around Tbilisi, thus unintentionally capturing her final moments. The horrifying incident was recorded in the video, and her friend’s reaction is seen as Arina falls headfirst down the concrete stairs. Arina can be heard screaming before the screen fades and the panicked voices of the friends can be heard.
Moreover, locals have raised that the spot is dangerous while highlighting that anyone could fall over the wall. Others also quipped by adding, ‘you can not see the barrier’ in the dark and said they would ‘be surprised if this was the first time’ someone had fallen. Many users have also reacted to the video, now viral on social media.

Another concerned user said, “I cannot believe there are no guardrails around that huge opening above the stairs, with just a tiny “raised border” around it. How do people design things so poorly (even worse at night)?”
However, Tbilisi’s City Hall shared that the steps and drop were built during the Soviet era and were in line with safety standards from the time as reported by The Daily Mail. Moreover, city mayor Kakha Kaladze said the underpasses across Tbilisi adhere to modern safety standards.
