Weather today: Sweltering heat in Delhi, rain alerts in Northeast and pleasant conditions in the North

Today Delhi experienced a warm start with temperatures around 27°C, expected to rise to a sweltering 37°C. Humidity remains moderate, providing some relief.

As India transitions into autumn, weather patterns remain diverse across regions, influenced by monsoon withdrawal in the south and seasonal changes in the north and northeast. Here’s a breakdown of today’s weather conditions.

Today Delhi experienced a warm start with temperatures around 27°C, expected to rise to a sweltering 37°C. Humidity remains moderate, providing some relief. The capital’s air quality is currently moderate but could worsen as the season shifts toward winter, traditionally bringing increased pollution levels.

Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 37°C on Thursday (October 3), which is three degrees above the seasonal average. Meanwhile, the IMD has forecast heavy rainfall in several regions.

In Uttarakhand, the day began cooler at 16°C, with temperatures forecasted to peak at 27°C. Residents of nearby Himachal Pradesh also experienced mild morning conditions, with temperatures around 14.5°C. Both states are seeing pleasant weather, ideal for outdoor activities. Further north, Jammu & Kashmir witnessed a cold start, with some higher-altitude areas dropping to -5°C.

Pune enjoyed a pleasant morning with temperatures around 27°C, expected to rise to 31°C later in the day. Despite 68% humidity, skies remain clear. Other areas in western India, like Gurugram and Noida, are also experiencing warm starts with similar temperature patterns, which will peak in the mid-30s by afternoon.

Rain alerts in Eastern and Northeastern India

States like Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and nearby regions are under alert for heavy rainfall over the next 5-6 days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of potential flooding and landslides in these areas due to intense and prolonged downpours.

Southern India: Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Mahe are also expected to experience enhanced rainfall activity. This is likely due to post-monsoon weather systems still impacting the region, with some areas bracing for possible flash floods.

Western Coast: Parts of Goa and the Konkan region in Maharashtra are seeing isolated rainstorms, though these are less severe compared to the southern states​
