Mumbai Metro Line 3: Services between Aarey to BKC Auqa Line begins today; check fares, trips, timings

Weekday operational hours for Mumbai Metro 3 will be from 6:30 AM to 10:30 PM, while on weekends, the first train will depart at 8:30 AM with the same closing time.

Mumbai’s first underground Metro, the Aqua Line (Mumbai Metro 3), will have its Phase 1 inaugurated today (October 5) by PM Narendra Modi. The Colaba to Seepz Metro 3 Phase 1, covering the Aarey-JVLR-BKC stretch, will become operational after the ceremony. This segment includes 10 stations, and nine trains will operate 96 daily trips. Fares will range from Rs. 10 to Rs. 50, with services available from 6:30 AM to 10:30 PM on weekdays and 8:30 AM onwards on weekends. Tickets can be bought via an app or counters. The Mumbai Metro 3 is a 33.5 km long underground Metro – the Colaba-Bandra-Seepz line. The corridor spanning 12.44 km long consists of 10 stations. Initially, nine trains comprising of eight cars will be pressed into service on this route to run a total of 96 daily trips. One Metro train can ferry 2,500 passengers while the headway between two Metro trains is expected to be 6.40 minutes.

Mumbai Metro Line 3: Stations at Aqua line

The 10 stations at the Aarey to BKC Phase of Metro 3 includes- Aarey, MIDC, SEEPZ, Marol Naka, CSMIA T1 (Terminal 1), Sahar Road, CSMIA T2 (Terminal 2), Vidyanagari, Dharavi, and BKC. Out of 10, nine are underground stations. The Aarey station is the only grade-level (ground) station in this stretch, located near the Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR).

Ashwini Bhide, Managing Director of MMRC, mentioned that 48 train captains, including 10 women, will manage the metro operations.

Mumbai metro 3 Timings & Fares

Weekday operational hours for Mumbai Metro 3 will be from 6:30 AM to 10:30 PM, while on weekends, the first train will depart at 8:30 AM with the same closing time. Fares will range from Rs. 10 to Rs. 50, and tickets can be purchased via an app or at physical counters. By next month, commuters can also use the National Common Mobility Card, which will be valid across all Mumbai Metro lines.

The Metro 3 corridor has been developed at a cost of Rs 37,275.82 crore and is expected to be fully operational by June 2025. However, there are plans to extend the service up to Acharya Atre Chowk in Worli by February 2025.
