A 24-year-old man fell to his death from a moving train at a railway station in Chennai, Tamil Nadu on Thursday. The incident took place at the Saidapet railway station when the deceased, Balamurugan, was travelling aboard the Vaigai Express.

The shocking incident, which was captured on CCTV, took place at the Saidapet railway station when the deceased, identified as Balamurugan, was travelling aboard the Vaigai Express on Thursday afternoon.
CCTV footage of the tragic accident, which has been widely shared on social media platforms, showed Balamurugan sitting on the steps at the entrance of an unreserved coach. As the train passes the Saidapet railway station, Balamurugan’s leg got trapped in the space between the platform and the coach, as a result of which he was flung out violently and dragged for over 30 feet before his head slammed into the fast moving train, the video showed.

According to the police, Balamurugan had boarded the Vaigai Express when it left the Egmore railway station at around 1.30 PM, the incident, they said, occurred at around 2 PM at the Saidapet railway station.
Balamurugan, a resident of Cuddalore, died on the spot, police said, adding that his body was recovered by the Railway Police and sent for post-mortem.
A case has been registered in this regard and further investigation is ongoing, they added.
