How to apply for internships in top companies via PM internship scheme?

PM Internship Scheme introduced: The government of India has introduced the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme, announced in the Union Budget for 2024-25, to provide one crore youth with internship opportunities in the top 500 companies over the next five years.

The initiative aims to offer real-world business exposure and equip young professionals with valuable experience in various industries.

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has developed an online portal, accessible at www.pminternship.mca.gov.in to manage the entire internship process. As of now, the portal is open for companies to register and offer internship positions. 

Youth seeking internships can start applying from the second week of October 2024.

Steps to apply for the internship:

1. Portal Access: Visit the MCA’s PM Internship Scheme Portal www.pminternship.mca.gov.in starting in mid-October 2024, when the candidate registration process will go live.

2. Candidate Registration: Create a profile by filling in the required personal and academic details. You may need to upload supporting documents like educational certificates and a resume.

3. Browse Internship Opportunities: Once registered, candidates can explore various internship opportunities listed by the partner companies. These companies have been selected based on their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) expenditure, ensuring a diverse range of industries is represented.

4. Apply for Internships: After finding a suitable opportunity, candidates can apply through the portal. Multiple applications are allowed, and internships may also be provided in associated entities within a company’s value chain, including suppliers or vendors.

Internships under this scheme will last for 12 months, with at least half the duration spent in an actual job environment. Interns will receive certificates from the partner companies, improving their employability and career prospects in the long run.
