Jadeja, who is playing his 74th Test for India against Bangladesh in Kanpur these days, became the third Indian cricketer to score 3000 runs and take 300 wickets in Tests on Monday.
World No. 1 Test all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja joined former Indian captain Kapil Dev and legendary spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in an elite list on Monday (September 30) by becoming the third Indian cricketer in history to score 3000 runs and take 300 wickets in Tests.

The 35-year-old Jadeja achieved the feat by dismissing Khaled Ahmed in the first innings of the ongoing 2nd Test between India and Bangladesh at Green Park in Kanpur.
Khaled was the last Bangladeshi batter to get out in the first innings. He was caught and bowled by Jadeja.
Kapil was the first Indian cricketer to do the double of 3000 runs and 300 wickets in Tests, and Ashwin joined him in the elite list in December 2022.
Kapil finished his 131-match long Test career with 5248 runs and 434 wickets, whereas Ashwin has 3422 runs and 524 wickets in 102 matches played so far.

3000 runs & 300 wickets for India in Tests

By taking his first wicket of the match, Jadeja also became the first Indian left-arm spinner to take 300 wickets in Tests and the overall seventh bowler to dismiss 300 or more batters for India in the five-day format of the game.
Anil Kumble holds the record for taking most wickets for India in Tests. He finished his career with 619 wickets in 132 matches. Ashwin is in 2nd place with 524 wickets, whereas Kapil takes No. 3 position with 434 wickets.
Harbhajan Singh accounted for the dismissal of 417 batters in 103 Tests for India, and Zaheer Khan finished his career with 311 wickets in 92 matches. Ishant Sharma, who last played for India in 2021, also has 311 wickets to his name in 105 Tests.

Jadeja, who made his Test debut for India in Nagpur against England on December 13, 2012, missed the last Test series between India and Bangladesh in December 2022 due to injury. He picked up five wickets (2+3) in the series opener played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai from September 19-22.
Apart from impressing with his bowling, Jadeja made headlines for his batting as well. He hammered 86 runs from 124 balls and added 199 runs for the seventh wicket with Ravichandran Ashwin (113) to pull India out of danger and help Rohit Sharma-led side post a total of 376 runs in the first innings.
