Weather Forecast Today: Heavy rainfall likely in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Himachal and THESE states; IMD issues red alert for Sikkim

IMD Weather Forecast: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its latest weather forecast informed that rainfall activity is expected to continue across various regions of East India, West India, and the Western Himalayan region over the next two days. According to the IMD, light to moderate rainfall will be fairly widespread, particularly over Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Gujarat State in the coming three days.

In addition, the meteorological department has also predicted isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall in these regions over the subsequent four days. Marathwada is also set to see similar rainfall patterns throughout the week. Meanwhile, East India can anticipate scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall over the next four days, with further widespread precipitation expected in the following days.

Uttarakhand is also expected to see scattered rainfall over the next three days. Furthermore, IMD has issued alerts for isolated heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal from September 28 to 29, as well as in Kerala and Mahe from September 28 to October 2.

Delhi weather forecast 

The weather department forecasts a partly cloudy sky for the national capital on Saturday with light showers. The maximum temperature is expected to reach around 34 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is likely to be around 25 degrees Celsius.

Met predicts rains till Sunday in Himachal

The local meteorological office in Himachal Pradesh is forecasting an extended period of rain through Sunday. Rainfall has been persistent across the state, with Jogindernagar receiving the highest total of 80 mm since Thursday, followed closely by Palampur with 79.8 mm, Baijnath at 65 mm, Paonta Sahib with 51.2 mm, and Shimla at 34.9 mm. Tabo in Lahaul and Spiti recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 8.2 degrees Celsius, while Bilaspur was the warmest, reaching 32.7 degrees Celsius.

Rain likely in parts of Rajasthan till Sunday

The Meteorological Department has also forecast rain across many areas of Rajasthan through Sunday. Light to moderate rain with the possibility of thundershowers is expected in parts of the Kota, Udaipur, and Bharatpur divisions over the weekend. Additionally, some areas in the southern parts of the Jodhpur division may experience light to moderate rain in the next two to three days. However, rainfall in most parts of the state is expected to taper off after September 30, with only light rain likely in certain areas of the Udaipur division.

Heavy rain lashes Bihar, flash floods alert issued

IMD has forecast heavy rainfall in several parts of Bihar and issued a warning of low to moderate “flash flood risk” in 13 districts. Areas likely to experience heavy rain include West Champaran, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Muzaffarpur, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Vaishali, Patna, Jehanabad, Madhubani, and Bhojpur.

The IMD indicated that these districts are at risk of “low to moderate flash floods” within the coming day. In response, the Disaster Management Department (DMD) has advised local administrations to remain vigilant and implement preventive measures. The department has also reached out to the district magistrates of the 13 affected areas. Additionally, around 12 districts along the Ganga, including Buxar, Bhojpur, Saran, Patna, Samastipur, Begusarai, Munger, and Bhagalpur, are already facing a flood-like situation. 

Red alert in Sikkim, heavy rainfall triggers multiple landslides

IMD has issued a red alert for the state over the next two days, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall. The collapse of a bridge has isolated the Mangan district headquarters from the rest of the state, and the alternative route through Dzongu is also blocked due to last year’s damage to the Sankhalang bridge. In the Daramdin area of Soreng district, several villages have experienced multiple landslides, causing damage to homes and significant losses.
