Chhath and Diwali Special Trains: To meet the demand during the upcoming festive season, Indian Railways on Friday, September 27, announced plans to run 678 special trains for passengers. According to the report, out of these 678 special trains, notification had already been issued for 519.
Special trains to operate from October 1 to November 30
These special trains will operate from October 1 to November 30. According to railway sources, in response to the expected rush during Diwali and Chhath festivals, special Vande Bharat trains will also be introduced. This will be the first time that Vande Bharat train will be run as a special train during the festive season.
20-coach Vande Bharat special train will run
According to the report, a 20-coach Vande Bharat special train will run from Delhi to various destinations in Bihar. This service will include routes to Patna, Darbhanga, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, and Gorakhpur, ensuring that passengers have convenient travel options to reach their homes for the festivities.

Vande Bharat aims to enhance travel comfort
The introduction of Vande Bharat trains as special services aims to enhance travel comfort and efficiency during one of the busiest travel seasons in India.
Festival Special Trains: Addition of coaches
Earlier today Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also announced an addition of coaches in the trains on the occasion of Chaath puja and Diwali across the country to ensure ease of travel for passengers.
Vaishnaw said, “This festive season, General Coach increased in 108 trains. 12,500 coaches sanctioned for Chhath puja and Diwali special trains. In 2024-25, a total of 5,975 trains have been notified till today. This will facilitate more than 1 crore passengers to go home during the Puja rush. In 2023-24 a total of 4,429 special trains ran during the festive season.”
