Mahindra Thar Roxx 4×4 Variants Prices Revealed, Starts At Rs 18.79 Lakh

The five-door SUV features Mahindra’s ‘4XPLOR System,’ which includes an electronic locking differential and various terrain modes—Snow, Sand, and Mud.

Mahindra has finally revealed the prices for its Thar Roxx 4×4 variants, which begin at Rs 18.79 lakh for the MX5 MT model and rise to Rs 22.49 lakh for the AX7 L AT variant (all prices, ex-showroom).

Notably, the 4×4 option is available exclusively with a diesel engine, while the petrol version offers only a 4×2 configuration.

Last month, Mahindra announced the pricing for the Thar Roxx’s 4×2 variants, ranging from Rs 12.99 lakh to Rs 20.49 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom). This means the 4×4 models cost about Rs 1.8 lakh to Rs 2 lakh more than their 4×2 counterparts. However, apart from the 4×4 capabilities, both variants come with similar equipment and safety features. The pricing of the Thar Roxx overlaps with the Thar 3-door (Rs 11.35 lakh-17.60 lakh) and the Scorpio N (Rs 13.85 lakh-24.54 lakh). (all prices, ex-showroom).

The Thar Roxx 4×4 is powered by a robust 2.2-litre diesel engine that delivers 175 bhp and 370 Nm of peak torque. In contrast, the diesel 4×2 variants utilize a less powerful version, producing 152 bhp and 330 Nm of torque. This five-door SUV features Mahindra’s advanced ‘4XPLOR System’, offering an electronic locking differential and multiple terrain modes, including Snow, Sand, and Mud.

Additionally, the 4×4 models are equipped with unique features like ‘Smart Crawl’ and ‘Intelliturn.’ The Smart Crawl is an off-road cruise control system, operational at speeds between 2.5kph and 30kph. Intelliturn helps the Roxx navigate tight turns by locking the rear inner wheel based on steering direction, functioning at speeds below 15kph for a maximum of 15 seconds.

For those preferring petrol, the Thar Roxx is also available with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, producing 162hp and 330Nm with a manual gearbox, or 177 bhp and 380 Nm with an automatic. Both engine options feature a 6-speed manual gearbox, with an optional 6-speed torque converter automatic.

The Mahindra Thar Roxx competes directly with the Force Gurkha 5-door and Maruti Jimny, but it also takes on monocoque mid-size SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun.
