RCB Pacer To Make Debut, Kuldeep In For Bumrah? India’s Likely Playing XI For 2nd Test Against Bangladesh

Here’s a look at India’s likely playing XI for the 2nd Test against Bangladesh, which is scheduled to take place at Green Park in Kanpur from Friday (September 27).

India will face Bangladesh in the second Test of the ongoing two-match series at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. The match is scheduled to start on Friday (September 27). After winning the series opener in Chennai by 280 runs on Sunday (September 22), the Indian men’s cricket team would like to come up with a big show in the second Test as well and extend the win streak against Bangladesh. India has won 12 out of 14 Tests played so far against the Asian rivals.

India played with three pacers—Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Akash Deep—and two spinners—Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja—in the first Test. But there’s a high possibility that the team management will consider playing three spinners in the second match. 29-year-old Kuldeep Yadav, who has 53 wickets to his name in 12 Tests played so far, is expected to get a chance to play ahead of all-rounder Axar Patel.

Kuldeep, who was born and brought up in Kanpur, has never played for India at Green Park Stadium, and he would like to come up with a big show in front of home fans. The 29-year-old, who made his Test debut against Australia in 2017, has picked up a five-wicket haul in his last red-ball match for India against England in March 2024.

Kuldeep is likely to play in place of Jasprit Bumrah, who in all likelihood will be rested for the second match, keeping in mind the busy season ahead. In the absence of Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj will lead the pace attack, and as his new ball partner, India can include Yash Dayal in the playing XI. The left-arm pacer, who plays for RCB in the IPL, has played multiple matches in domestic cricket at the Green Park Stadium, and his experience can come in handy. He is likely to come in place of Akash Deep, who only bowled five overs in the first innings of the first Test and picked up two wickets. India is unlikely to make any changes in the batting line-up.
