Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has said that India is at a crucial point in time to seize the opportunities presented by artificial intelligence (AI).

Speaking after his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New York, Huang said, “This is India’s moment. You have to seize the opportunity.”
Huang was one of 15 tech leaders who met with PM Modi during his visit to the United States.
The meeting, held at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel on September 22, brought together the heads of some of the world’s biggest tech companies, including Sundar Pichai of Google, Shantanu Narayen of Adobe, and Arvind Krishna of IBM.

India’s AI Potential
In the conversation, Huang highlighted the transformative potential of AI and India’s key role in this global shift.
“AI democratises computing, and this is India’s moment,” the Nvidia CEO said, stressing the importance of AI in creating new opportunities.
He mentioned that Nvidia is already working with various companies, startups, and educational institutions across India to harness this potential.
Huang expressed his admiration for Prime Minister Modi’s deep interest in emerging technologies, particularly AI.
“The Prime Minister is an incredible student. Every time I meet him, he wants to learn more about technology and artificial intelligence, the potential and opportunity for India, and the impact on India, society, and industry,” Huang said.
India’s growing startup ecosystem
During the roundtable, Huang acknowledged India’s growing importance on the global technology map, particularly in the field of startups.

India has become home to the third-largest startup ecosystem in the world, and Huang pointed out that to support the rising number of AI-driven startups, a strong AI infrastructure is essential.
Nvidia has been playing a key role in this by partnering with Indian companies and institutions to build AI infrastructure. “India is home to some of the world’s greatest computer scientists. This is a great opportunity,” Huang stated.
Nvidia’s partnership with Indian institutions
Huang highlighted Nvidia’s ongoing work with top Indian educational institutions, particularly the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

Nvidia has established AI Centres of Excellence at every IIT, where professionals are training students in AI technologies and helping them acquire the skills necessary for the future.
“Every IIT now has an Nvidia AI Centre of Excellence where professionals are teaching students how to upskill into this new world of AI,” he said.
Huang also said that AI is not only a new technological frontier but also a new industry with significant potential for economic growth. He believes that AI will play a critical role in reshaping industries and creating new jobs in the coming years.

“Artificial intelligence is also a new industry, a new manufacturing industry that’s very important,” Huang said, adding that he looks forward to deepening Nvidia’s collaboration with India to make this possible.
