The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of a low-pressure area likely forming over the northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal around September 23. This development is expected to trigger significant rainfall across various regions of India in the coming days.

Central India
Parts of Vidarbha is likely to witness fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall from September 23 to 27. Isolated heavy rainfall is also expected during this period. Chhattisgarh will experience scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall from September 23 to 26, with isolated heavy rain likely. Madhya Pradesh is forecasted to see isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall over the next three days, with heavier rains anticipated from September 24 to 27.
East & Northeast India
In the east, Odisha and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands are set to receive widespread light to moderate rainfall. The northeastern states, including Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, are likely to experience isolated heavy rainfall over the next week. Meanwhile, West Bengal and Sikkim can expect scattered rainfall during the first three days, increasing to fairly widespread rainfall thereafter.
Northwest and West India
In northwest India, isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall is expected, with West Rajasthan remaining largely dry. Saurashtra & Kutch will see similar weather patterns. Heavy rainfall is predicted for Marathwada on September 23 and 24, with additional rain expected in Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan, Goa, and Gujarat from September 25 to 27.
South Peninsular India
The southern regions, including Coastal Karnataka and North Interior Karnataka, will likely experience widespread light to moderate rainfall. Heavy rain is anticipated in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Telangana and Rayalaseema for next few days.
