Pune Metro Update: PM Modi to inaugurate underground metro from Civil Court to Swargate on September 26 – Details inside

PM Modi will inaugurate the underground Metro corridor from Civil Court to Swargate and lay foundation stones to extend the route from Swargate to Katraj, as well as for an elevated corridor from Pimpri Chinchwad to Nigdi.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on Saturday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the new underground Metro in Pune and lay the foundation stone for an elevated route on September 26.

Fadnavis, along with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and other leaders, was in Pune to inaugurate various development projects for the district. Speaking at the event, he thanked Gadkari for the construction of the four-lane Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi Marg and Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi Marg from Pandharpur to Pune.

“The last phase of this route will commence soon, and we aim to complete the entire road. I am honoured that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Nitin Gadkari took key decisions for the Palkhi Marg,” Fadnavis said.

He further mentioned that PM Modi will inaugurate the underground Metro corridor from Civil Court to Swargate and lay foundation stones to extend the route from Swargate to Katraj, as well as for an elevated corridor from Pimpri Chinchwad to Nigdi.

“We are expanding the Pune Metro with new phases. During the Ganpati festival, 3.5 lakh people used the Metro for immersion. PM Modi will inaugurate the new Metro route and perform the ‘bhumipujan’ of another route on September 26. Pune is on its way to becoming one of the best urban accommodation centres,” Fadnavis added.

He also stated that Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol has proposed naming the Pune airport after Sant Tukaram Maharaj, and the proposal will be sent to the Centre for approval, with Gadkari and Mohol following up on the matter.
