Weather today: Rainfall expected in parts of Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai today – Check full forecast

In Delhi, the weather is forecasted to be generally cloudy with light rain and thunderstorms accompanied by strong surface winds of 25-35 km/h.

As the monsoon season nears its end, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued no heavy rainfall alerts for September 19 and 20 across India. The IMD, however, has reported notable shifts in the monsoon trough across the country in its latest weather report on Thursday. The western end of the trough has moved north of its usual position, while the eastern end has dipped southward. Additionally, a depression that had formed over Jharkhand and neighboring north Chhattisgarh has weakened into a well-marked low-pressure area.

In Delhi, the weather is forecasted to be generally cloudy with light rain and thunderstorms accompanied by strong surface winds of 25-35 km/h. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 35°C, while the minimum will settle near 26°C. Delhi’s air quality index (AQI) was measured at a ‘satisfactory’ level of 63.

Regional rainfall forecasts

– Kolkata and Mumbai: Residents of Kolkata can expect periodic rainfall until September 22, while Mumbai will experience downpours until September 24.

– Central India: IMD forecasts light to moderate rainfall across Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh until September 25. However, isolated heavy rainfall is anticipated in West Madhya Pradesh on September 24, East Madhya Pradesh on September 23-24, and in Chhattisgarh between September 22-24.

– Northwest India: Light rainfall is expected in this region until September 24, with isolated very heavy rainfall likely in Uttarakhand on September 24.

– East and Northeast India: The Andaman and Nicobar Islands will see fairly widespread light to moderate rain. Similarly, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura can expect scattered to widespread showers until September 25.

– West and South Peninsular India: Konkan and Goa will experience fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall, while the rest of the region will see isolated showers throughout the week.

The IMD has issued a nowcast warning, predicting light to moderate rain in the Delhi-NCR region and neighboring areas, with wet spells likely in parts of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
