New Delhi-Varanasi Vande Bharat Express: India’s first 20-coach semi-high speed train begins commercial run – Check schedule, route, fare and more

The New Delhi-Varanasi 20 Coach Vande Bharat Express train services include train numbers 22436/22435 and 22415/22416, covering a distance of 771 km in approximately 8 hours, making them the fastest trains on this route.

Indian Railways’ first 20-coach Vande Bharat Express train begins its commercial service from Varanasi Junction on Wednesday (September 18). This semi-high-speed train which connects the temple town with New Delhi railway station, enhancing rail travel across the country, was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this week.

Developed by the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, the new 20-coach Vande Bharat Express will accommodate more passengers than the previous 16 coach and 8 coach versions, reducing waitlists and benefiting last-minute travelers. This new train will be able to accommodate as many as 1,440 passengers in one journey. 

Two 20-coach Vande Bharat Express trains have been introduced on the New Delhi-Varanasi route, replacing the earlier models. These trains will be operated and maintained by the Northern Railway zone. 

The New Delhi-Varanasi 20 Coach Vande Bharat Express train services include train numbers 22436/22435 and 22415/22416, covering a distance of 771 km in approximately 8 hours, making them the fastest trains on this route.

New Delhi-Varanasi 20 Coach Vande Bharat Express schedule and timings

  • Train 22415 (Varanasi to New Delhi): Departs Varanasi at 06:00 and arrives at 14:05.
  • Train 22435 (Varanasi to New Delhi): Departs Varanasi at 15:00 and arrives at 23:00.

New Delhi-Varanasi 20 Coach Vande Bharat Express route and stoppages

During its journey, the train will stop at two stations: Prayagraj Junction and Kanpur Central. This new service is set to significantly improve travel options for passengers between Varanasi and the national capital.

New Delhi-Varanasi 20 Coach Vande Bharat Express coach composition and fares

The 20-coach Vande Bharat Express trains will offer a total of 1,440 seats with two seating options: AC Chair Car and Executive Chair Car. The fare for the AC Chair Car from Varanasi to New Delhi is Rs 1,795, while the Executive Chair Car fare is Rs 3,320.
