Stock Market Holiday: Public and bank holidays have changed in India, particularly in Mumbai, Maharashtra, the home city of the BSE and NSE. In a few of states, government buildings, bank branches, and schools will be closed from September 16 to September 18, although this is not for nationwide. Now the big question among investors is that whether Indian stock market remain open from September 16 to September 18? It is critical to be informed of the key stock market holidays.
Banks and schools will be closed in various cities due to Milad-un-Nabi or Id-e Milad (Birthday of Prophet Mohammad), on September 16. Similarly, Banks will be closed due to Pang-Lhabsol/Id-E-Milad and Visarjan of Lord Ganesha.
Recently, Maharashtra government has declared September 18 as a public holiday under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, as Eid-E-Milad was shifted from September 16 to September 18.
Bank Holidays on Id-e Milad
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced that there will be no transactions and settlements in government securities, foreign exchange, money markets and rupee interest rate derivatives on September 18, 2024. All outstanding transactions due on this day will be postponed to next working day, September 19, 2024.

Stock Market Holidays August 2024
The NSE supports trading throughout the year to ensure an excellent trading experience. During regular weekday trading hours, dealers have a six-hour and fifteen-minute window from 9:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The stocks, equity derivatives, and SLB divisions will be closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Along with weekends, the NSE holiday calendar includes national and cultural observances.
Is stock market closed on September 16, 17 and 18?
Despite these public holidays, Indian stock market will be open. Trading in equity, equity derivatives, commodities, currency, currency derivatives and SLB segment will be normal on September 16, 17 and 18. Both BSE and NSE have not changed their holiday list for September 2024. They will be open on weekdays and closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
