The initiative is aimed at offering a range of skilling and employment opportunities within the Swiggy’s food delivery and quick commerce network.

Broadly, Swiggy Skills has four components. Under the plan, Swiggy will integrate with MSDE’s online Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH) to provide access to online skill development courses, offline certifications, and training modules for its almost 240,000 delivery partners, and the staff of its 200,000 restaurant partners.

In addition, Swiggy’s ecosystem of retail back-end operations and restaurant partners will provide job opportunities to people who have undergone training under MSDE’s programmes, especially in operational roles such as retail & logistic management, and operational aspects of food & beverages business.

“In Swiggy Instamart operations, we will be able to provide recruitment to 3,000 individuals across the country. We have also planned to provide training and internship to 200 people trained by MSDE in our quick commerce operations at the senior level. Also, under our employee volunteering programme, we will be able to provide in-house expertise to create training modules on emerging issues such as artificial intelligence (AI), marketing, retail, quick commerce and logistics,” said Rohit Kapoor, CEO at Swiggy Food Marketplace.

“Swiggy is a fast-growing brand. It’s creating new platforms and engaging with new tech. But they have to constantly evolve as well. Swiggy has to invest in its workforce if it wants to remain at the top echelons of business.

“There’s an emerging health crisis in our country. There’s a direct connection between mental health and the consumption of ultra-processed foods. I see Swiggy engaging with restaurant partners to help them alleviate their food standards,” said minister for skill development & entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary, at the launch.
