On Sunday, a few sections of Central and East Bengaluru will have to bear with some roadblocks and a temporary ban in liquor selling. This change is due to the yearly merriment at St Mary’s Basilica in Shivajinagar that’s sure to attract a large crowd.

Bengaluru: The sale of liquor is banned in parts of central and east Bengaluru on Sunday, September 8, due to the annual feast at St. Mary’s Basilica in Shivajinagar. The traffic police have also imposed several restrictions to maintain smooth traffic flow and manage congestion in the city during the festival. On the St. Mary’s Basilica Feast day, people offer prayers in different languages at the Basilica. A massive chariot procession of Arogya Mata is also being held in the city today.
