New Vande Bharat Sleeper Train On Mumbai-Delhi Route To Slash Travel Time To 12 Hrs – Key Details Inside

With a planned route encompassing stations like Kota, Ratlam, Vadodara, and Surat within its 12-hour journey, the Vande Bharat Sleeper train is set to offer a competitive alternative to the renowned Rajdhani Express.

The upcoming Vande Bharat Sleeper train is poised to transform the Delhi-Mumbai commute, slashing the journey time to a mere 12 hours, a significant improvement from the 15-20 hours typically taken by conventional express trains. The Vande Bharat Sleeper train is designed to offer unparalleled comfort and efficiency, boasting 16 coaches and a total of 823 seats. This luxurious setup aims to enhance the travel experience for passengers, setting a new standard in long-distance train travel.

According to recent reports, the manufacturing of the sleeper train is nearing completion in Bengaluru. The train is expected to comprise 16 coaches, with 10 allocated for the third AC, 4 for the second AC, and one coach dedicated to the first AC. Additionally, two Seating cum Luggage Rake (SLR) coaches will be included, ensuring a comprehensive and well-equipped travel experience.

Enhanced Capacity and Coverage

Compared to the chaircar version of the Vande Bharat Express, which accommodates 530 passengers across 8 coaches, the new sleeper train is set to cater to a larger capacity of 823 passengers. Operating on routes spanning 800 km to 1,200 km, the train is not only focused on the Delhi-Mumbai corridor but is also expected to serve the bustling Delhi-Patna route, meeting the high demand for efficient and comfortable travel options.

Earlier, Indian Tech & Infra took to its official X (formally Twitter) handle to announce the news. The account tweeted, ‘India’s first Vande Bharat sleeper train is expected to start operations before August 15. The train will initially operate between Delhi and Mumbai via Gujarat.’

Speed and Connectivity

In its initial phase, the Vande Bharat Sleeper train is projected to operate at a speed of 130 km/h, ensuring swift and efficient travel. Subsequently, the train’s speed will be gradually ramped up from 160 km/h to an impressive 220 km/h, further reducing travel durations and enhancing connectivity between key stations.
