NEW DELHI: Gary Kirsten, the head coach for Pakistan’s white-ball team, will supervise the Champions Cup, a domestic one-day tournament in which all contracted players are required to participate.

Kirsten will be assisted by physiotherapist Cliff Deacon and strength coach Dreks Simon in assessing the players’ performance and fitness levels prior to Pakistan’s upcoming white-ball matches this season. The trio will also administer fitness tests for the national Test squad and other international players as per PTI.
Following the conclusion of the series against Bangladesh, which resulted in a devastating 0-2 loss for the home team, the red ball format head coach, Jason Gillispie, and high performance coach, Tim Nielsen, will depart for Australia on Wednesday.

The Pakistan team’s first engagement after the Champions Cup is the World Test Championship series against England, commencing on October 7 in Multan. Gillispie and Nielsen will return to Pakistan for this series.
According to a reliable source close to the Pakistan team, despite the recent defeats against Bangladesh, no significant changes are expected, as both Gillespie and Kirsten have been granted full authority by the Pakistan Cricket Board to maintain continuity in selection and other matters.

“Both have told the PCB it has to be patient and not take decisions based on a run of bad form for the team in all formats,” the source said.
