WhatsApp offers end-to-end encryption for backed up chats but the new feature could make it easy for anyone to secure their content.
WhatsApp users can secure their backed up chats with its high-level encryption but setting that up isn’t easy for everyone. However, the messaging app could soon make it easy to encrypt their backed up chats and do it without being tech savvy or even worry about forgetting something. If you have a habit of changing passwords because you forget them, WhatsApp will soon have the passkey option available even for your backed up chats.

WHATSAPP PASSKEY FOR BACKED UP CHATS – WHAT WE KNOW
Passkeys basically remove the need to remember passwords by using your phone’s biometric security feature like Face ID on iPhones and fingerprint sensor if you use Android. WhatsApp chat backups support end-to-end encryption but you need to enable them manually.
The latest WhatsApp Android beta version 2.24.18.13 suggests passkeys could be the easier way to secure these chats and we tend to agree. The feature is still in development before it reaches the beta testers in the coming weeks. We expect the feature to be available in the chat backup settings in WhatsApp which can be enabled manually based on the preference of the user.

Chat backups are helpful but not used by all WhatsApp users but for those who value their privacy and chats, this encryption upgrade will be much welcomed.
That’s not all, WhatsApp video calls will get Augmented Reality (AR) effects along with creative filters for iPhone users. Call filters and effects make the experience engaging and interactive rather than seeing a boring screen with the face on the other end. The new feature is being tested with the iOS beta version 24.15.10.70, as mentioned by WaBetaInfo recently. We saw the tool tested on Android earlier this year and the iPhone tests suggest a full roll out is not far away.
The messaging app will have two modes called touch-up and low-light, where the former can smoothen your skin and add facial filters like it works on Instagram, the latter will help clear your face when the light isn’t the brightest.
