The notice states: “It is hereby notified that the deadline for uploading applications from fresh candidates and renewals for the National Means cum Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) beneficiaries for the year 2024-2025 on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) has been extended to 30.09.2024. Heads of institutions are requested to inform the students concerned and ensure that registrations are completed within this extended timeframe.”
Students can apply by visiting the official website — scholarships.gov.in — and completing the one-time registration (OTR) application. Once registered, each applicant will receive a unique 14-digit number based on their Aadhaar/Aadhaar Enrolment ID (EID). The OTR process streamlines the scholarship application, removing the need for yearly re-registration.

For students encountering OTR errors, the official website provides guidance: “In some cases, face authentication for OTR generation fails if the Aadhaar biometrics have been locked. Students and their guardians are advised to check their Biometric Lock/Unlock status using the mAadhaar mobile app or the My Aadhaar web portal. Ensure that the Biometric Lock/Unlock status is set to ‘Unlocked’ before attempting face authentication through the NSP OTR app. To lock or unlock Aadhaar biometrics, use the ‘Lock/Unlock Aadhaar’ option on the My Aadhaar web portal (link: https://resident.uidai.gov.in/bio-lock).”
