The National Capital has recorded its highest rainfall in the month of August since 2010 along with consistent below-average temperatures.

The Safdarjung Observatory, Delhi’s main weather station, recorded 390.3 mm of rainfall in August as of Friday evening, surpassing the 378.8 mm recorded in August 2012.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its latest press release that over the next few days, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and Telangana are likely to see very heavy rainfall.

Heavy rainfall in Andhra Pradesh
The IMD has said that the state could witness heavy to very heavy rainfall on August 31 and September 1.
It predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of North Coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP), Yanam, and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh (SCAP). Additionally, the IMD has forecast thunderstorms in isolated areas across the state during the same period.
Similarly, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are expected in parts of North Coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP) and Yanam on September 2.
Besides this, isolated heavy rainfall is also expected over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Coastal Karnataka today and over Telangana between August 31 and September 2.
Isolated heavy rainfall is highly likely over Kerala & Mahe and Coastal Karnataka over the next 7 days, the IMD said in a release on August 30.
Cyclone Asna: No major impact in Gujarat
Cyclone Asna, which formed earlier off the coast of Kutch in Gujarat, moved into the Arabian Sea toward Oman without causing any significant impact on the region, officials said Friday evening. As a precaution, the local administration relocated nearly 3,500 people to safer locations and advised those living in huts and mud houses to seek shelter in more secure buildings, according to Kutch District Collector Amit Arora.
Rainfall in Northwest India
Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad on September 2 and 3. Similar conditions are expected in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana on September 2; Uttarakhand from September 2 to 4; Uttar Pradesh from September 1 to 3; East Rajasthan from September 1 to 5; and West Rajasthan on September 4.
