nder-construction Noida International Airport in Jewar is expected to see first passenger flights take off starting December, The Indian Express reported. Once its complete expansion finishes, the airport will be India’s largest.
Earlier, the commencement of basic operations was expected take place in September-end.
Noida International Airport Limited CEO Arun Vir Singh has said that four domestic flights will be operational by December 29. “ By February, more flights will be flying out regularly,” he added.

Roadblocks ahead
A key roadblock to the airport’s operationalisation is the pending second phase of environmental clearance.
“The first stage of clearance required prior to its construction was already given by the MOEFCC (Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change) but the clearance prior to operations is pending,” Singh added.
One of the reasons for the delayed clearance is the planned relocation of 111 animals, including blackbucks, peafowl, and deer, from the future airport site. “They must be relocated before operations can commence,” Singh explained.
