Recently, a video highlighting this challenge has surfaced online where two women are seen struggling with an escalator for what seems to be their first time. The 14-second clip, shared on X, begins with a woman in bright yellow saree attempting to navigate the escalator in an unconventional manner, moving carefully using both her hands and legs. She quickly gets off the escalator while maintaining this unusual stance. Behind her, another woman in a green saree also grapples with the escalator, sitting on it before quickly standing up. The second woman nearly loses her balance as she gets off but the first woman swiftly steps in to assist her, ensuring she doesn’t fall.

Since being shared online, the video has gained significant traction, amassing over 9.5 lakh views and sparking lively comments. Many viewers expressed their understanding and empathy, highlighting that not everyone is familiar with escalators.
One user noted, “They’re innocent. Not everyone is well versed in all aspects. Deadly Kalesh I feel that you’re mocking sometimes.”

Another added, “Gaav ki mahilaye hai bhai unko eske bare me nahi pata hai (They are village women brothers, they don’t know about this).”
Someone else pointed out, “Because they are wearing sarees and don’t use escalators everyday.”

“They’re just afraid of standing on the escalator. Though it’s more dangerous as the probability of a saree getting stuck in a sitting position is more,” another commented.
One person questioned, “Why make fun of them ? Many people are scared.”
“They were scared. What can be common and random for city folks can be something the village ppl have never seen or experienced. Absolutely normal,” a comment read.

Earlier, a video made the rounds online showing two women trying to help a child navigate an escalator. Initially, it seemed they were assisting the child in overcoming his fear, with the mother and likely the child’s aunt guiding him onto the moving steps. However, it quickly became clear that they were attempting to pose for a camera or reel, leading them to sit down on the escalator. This poor decision resulted in them tumbling along with the child. Fortunately, the trio escaped the situation without any serious injuries.
The incident sparked outrage online, with many criticising the women for compromising the child’s safety.
