Kolkata Traffic Police issues advisory ahead of the ‘Nabanno Abhiyaan’ protest to seek justice for the 31-year-old female doctor who was raped and murdered RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9.

Kolkata Traffic Advisory: A traffic advisory has been issued for Tuesday ahead of a massive protest called in response to the heinous rape and murder of the 31-year-old PG trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9. The protest, named ‘Nabanno Abhiyaan (March to Secretariat),’ has been organized by ‘Paschimbanga Chhatro Samaj’ to seek justice for the victim. Thousands of students and activists are expected to march from College Square to the state secretariat as part of the protest.

In reaction to the RG Kar incident, the ‘Paschimbanga Chhatro Samaj’ is preparing for a major protest march called the ‘Nabanno Abhiyaan (march to Secretariat)’. An impressive crowd of students and activists are set to participate, beginning their trek from College Square and ending at the state secretariat.

  • Travelers from Kolaghat heading towards the 2nd Hooghly Bridge can opt to go via Nibedita Setu at Nibra on their way to Kolkata.
  • Those journeying from Dankuni towards the 2nd Hooghly Bridge can also pass through Nibedita Setu towards Kolkata.
  • If departing from Howrah Railway Station and planning to use either the Howrah Bridge or 2nd Hooghly Bridge to reach Kolkata, consider taking the GT road and using Nibedita Setu.
  • For travelers moving from Kolkata towards Howrah and planning to use the 2nd Hooghly Bridge or Howrah Bridge, Nibedita Setu is a recommended route.
  • Nibedita Setu serves as a convenient route for commuters traveling between different locations in Kolkata and nearby areas.

  • Between Mandirtala and 2nd Hooghly Bridge.

  • Foreshore Road – Kazipara to Ramkrishnapur Crossing.
  • Howrah Railway station to Grand Foreshore Road.
  • GT road between Mallick Fatak and Betaitala.
  • Between Kazipara and 2nd Hooghly Bridge.
