New Delhi: Indian Cricketer KL Rahul remains one of the most talented batters in the country. The wicket-keeper batter has left fans guessing with a social media post on 22nd August. The post, which followed Rahul’s return to the Indian team for the ODI series against Sri Lanka, was an attention-grabbing line, “I have an announcement to make, stay tuned…”

The last couple of years, however, haven’t been the best for KL Rahul from the performance point of view, with the wicket-keeper batter losing a spot in India’s T20I side. As the members of the Indian cricket team enjoy a break, away from national duty, Rahul’s Instagram story triggered a huge wave of speculations on social media.

Shortly after, another image circulated on his Instagram channel, seemingly confirming his retirement.

Despite the obvious question marks on the authenticity of the message and its attribution to KL Rahul, fans and social media are worried and igniting his retirement speculations.
The wicket-keeper batter’s future as the captain of his Indian Premier League side Lucknow Supergiants has also been subjected nad taken the matter of intense chatter among the fans and experts. Many feel that according to the current scenario and form of KL Rahul at Indian Premier League 2023, the franchise might offload Rahul and look for a new captaincy face in the forthcoming mega auction.

Rahul will next be seen in action in the Duleep Trophy, having been picked in the India ‘A’ Squad. He will be playing under Shubman Gill’s leadership, alongside Mayank Agarwal, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna, Khaleel Ahmed, and Avesh Khan.
The wicket-keeper batter has a tough road to make up in the Indian Cricket Team, the competition from Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel would make his chances less likely into the playing XI. While Rishabh Pant to be given the wicket keeper’s role, Rahul could still cut in the playing XI as a non-keeper.
