Venkat Prabhu, the man behind ‘GOAT’, shared the talks he had with Vijay about his decision to step back from acting. Interestingly, with Venkat’s revelation at a media gathering, it turns out Vijay’s only response was an enigmatic smile, keeping silent with no other words to elaborate on his choice. Venkat said, “Just like everyone here, and scores of Vijay fans, I too want to see him in more films. In fact, I asked him if he could balance both, and he just smiled and said, ‘We’ll see’. It is always our dream to see him on the screen. But he, too, has a dream. An aspiration. And I think we should support it (sic).”

The filmmaker of ‘GOAT’ clarified that he decided not to leverage dialogue or plotlines to advertise Vijay’s political opinions. In response to a reporter’s query about the potential political undertone of the ‘Marudhamalai Maamaniye’ song, Venkat swiftly brushed aside the idea of infusing the film with any political nuances. He further clarified that the song had been taken from Vijay’s earlier movie, ‘Ghilli’, and hence, doesn’t convey any political tenor.

The GOAT director revealed that Vijay never asked him to weave his political ideologies into the film’s narrative. In describing ‘GOAT’, Venkat emphasised it is essentially a mainstream movie. He acknowledged a certain political hue to some dialogues but clarified that these are well-integrated within the film’s overarching plot.

Venkat Prabhu further added, “Vijay Sir has never done such things. He didn’t want any line to be written to further his political agenda. GOAT is a commercial film and not a political film. Of course, some dialogues in the trailer might allude to his political career. But when you see the film, you’ll know how all of these actually fit in perfectly with the narrative. There are no political references in GOAT. Vijay Sir sees a film as a film, and most importantly, he knows my knowledge of politics. We never discuss politics at all (sic).”
