Mumbai: Passengers Attack On Ticket Checker In Local Train; Watch Video

When Elderly ticket checker asked for a fine for not carrying a proper ticker, passengers attacked him in Mumbai’s local train.

In Mumbai’s Churchgate-Virar fast air conditioned (AC) local train 2 passengers had a heated argument with a Railway TTE. Later on 2 passengers can be seen running behind elderly ticket checker & blocking his way. They also started abusing him. Other passengers can also be heard provoking & supporting them in this act. The video was recorded by other passangers went viral on social media.

According to sources of Free Press Journal, Chief Ticket Inspector Jasbir Singh was conducting a ticket check when he caught three passengers traveling with first-class tickets in an air-conditioned local train. Singh asked them to pay the fine as per the railway regulations. During  which another passenger on the same train also started arguing with Singh. The situation turned violent and a passenger attacked the Ticket checker.

Some of the passengers also accused the ticket checker of attacking the passengers first, which made them angry. Later on Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) intervened in the matter, and the misbehaving passengers wrote an apology before being allowed to leave.

Western Railway Made Passenger Apologies

Western Railway in their statement issued said, ‘’Passenger who misbehaved with ticket checker Mr. Jasbir Singh in the viral video, has expressed shame for his actions. He has also unconditionally apologized to ticket checker Jasbir Singh for his behavior.’’

They urged all the passengers to cooperate with railway employees in the performance of their duties. ‘’Any misbehaviour against our railway staff is not only morally wrong but also a punishable offense,’’ added Western Railway.

User Named, Prabhakar Kmv Said ,’’Generally ppl travelling in AC are good.Sad this happened in a cultured city like Mumbai.I remember,we as school boys used to travel in local trains for a joyride without tkt on every Aug 15th but TCs used to let us go bcz v were wearing tricolour flag pinned to our shirts!’’
