The annual meeting is one of the most critical organisational events for the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), and its significance is especially heightened this year as it comes in the wake of BJP’s recent setbacks in several key states, including Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Maharashtra, during this election cycle. The party’s drubbing in these states has added urgency to the discussions at the meeting. Meanwhile, elections to three states — Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Haryana — are scheduled to happen later this year.
Talking to News 18, a senior RSS functionary said, “Several BJP leaders and ministers, who hold important responsibilities in organisation and elections, will attend the meeting. The RSS always invites the party president and the general secretary of the organisation to attend such meetings. Apart from them, some other seniors may join as well.”
CONVERGENCE MEET FOR RSS AND BJP CADRES
The Samanvay Baithak serves as a national coordination meeting, bringing together all RSS affiliates alongside senior leaders from the BJP, the political front of the RSS.
The RSS functionary added, “With the 2024 general elections on the horizon, the presence of top BJP leaders at this meeting underscores the strategic need to realign the party’s political agenda with the broader ideological goals of the RSS. Moreover, the Sangh discusses the future policies, social programmes and strategies in the meeting.”
The discussions are expected to focus on critical issues such as electoral strategies, caste issues, organisational strengthening, and the ideological roadmap for the future. The convergence of RSS and BJP leadership at this juncture reflects a concerted effort to ensure cohesion and a unified approach, making this meeting a pivotal moment in the BJP’s and the Sangh Parivar’s calendar.
