Reliance Jio has officially launched the Jio Bharat J1 4G feature phone in India, introducing a new budget-friendly option to the market at Rs 1,799. This device, now listed on Jio’s website, follows a premature listing by Amazon, which revealed full details ahead of schedule.
The Jio Bharat J1 4G is an addition to Jio’s existing lineup, building on the Jio Bharat B2 and B1 models, as well as the Jio Bharat K1 Karbonn and V2. This new model continues Jio’s trend of offering affordable, feature-rich phones designed to cater to a broad audience. The phone is available on Jio’s Reliance Digital and JioMart platforms, as well as on Amazon.
Jio Bharat J1 4G specs, features, and more
A standout feature of the Jio Bharat J1 4G is its 2.8-inch display, which Jio markets as ideal for watching movies, trending videos, and sports highlights. The device also boasts a robust 2,500 mAh removable battery, promising extended usage on a single charge. This combination of a large screen and durable battery is designed to appeal to users looking for enhanced multimedia consumption on a budget.
In terms of functionality, the Jio Bharat J1 4G supports HD calling, UPI payments through JioMoney, and access to OTT services like Jio Cinema. This expands its utility beyond basic phone functions, offering a more versatile experience. The inclusion of a 3.5mm audio jack, 0.3MP camera, torch, FM radio, and expandable storage up to 128GB further enhance its feature set.

However, it is worth noting that the Jio Bharat J1 is a SIM-locked device, requiring a Jio SIM card for operation. This aligns with Jio’s strategy to leverage its network capabilities to deliver internet-enabled services on entry-level 4G keypad phones. The device supports 4G VoLTE, providing users with clear voice call quality over Jio’s extensive 4G network.
Catering to India’s diverse population, the phone supports 23 Indian languages and comes preloaded with Jio apps, including JioPay for UPI payments. This positions the Jio Bharat J1 as more than just a feature phone, offering modern capabilities at an economical price.
Priced at Rs 1,799, the Jio Bharat J1 4G stands as a cost-effective option for those seeking a feature phone with contemporary functionalities. It sits above the Jio Bharat B2 in terms of features and pricing, yet remains below the JioPhone Prima, which is Jio’s premium feature phone offering at Rs 2,599.
