PM Modi’s 112th ‘Mann Ki Baat’ address – Key highlights

PM Modi stated that many people who would not have used Khadi products previously now wear them with great pride

In the 112th Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Sunday that Khadi Gramodyog’s business had crossed Rs 1.5 lakh crore for the first time, adding that expanding Khadi and handloom sales were providing a substantial number of new job possibilities.

In his Mann Ki Baat monthly radio program, Modi stated that many people who would not have used Khadi products previously now wear them with great pride. “The Khadi Gramodyog’s business has crossed Rs 1.5 lakh crore for the first time. Do you know how much sales of Khadi have gone up ‘400 per cent’. The rising sales of Khadi and handloom are creating new job opportunities in large numbers,” he said.

While talking about the upcoming Independence day, PM Modi highlighted the Ministry of Defence initiative ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ which will undertake 15 lakh trees plantation drive across the country on the occasion of 78th Independence Day ceremony on 15th August 2024. 

With the start of the Paris Olympics, the prime minister stated that the games provide our athletes with the opportunity to wave the national flag on an international level. He urged everyone to support them and ‘Cheer for Bharat’.

During the show, he also spoke with Indian children who did exceptionally well in the recently held Mathematics Olympiad. “The International Mathematics Olympiad, which took place a few days ago, was also an Olympic event. Indian students have done exceptionally well in this Olympiad. Our team won four gold medals and one silver medal,” Modi stated.

The prime minister also praised the inclusion of the ‘Moidams’ in Assam on the UNESCO global heritage list, saying it is a source of great joy for every Indian.
