The BMC reports that the reservoirs supplying water to Mumbai have been experiencing heavy rains, resulting in a steady increase in water storage levels. Currently, four reservoirs—Vihar, Tulsi, Tansa, and Modaksagar—are overflowing. As a result, the 10% water cut in Mumbai’s water supply will be withdrawn starting Monday, July 29. The BMC is also lifting the 10% water cut for Thane City, Bhiwandi, and the Outside City Division Grampanchayats, which receive water from the BMC, effective from the same date.

Additionally, the Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Maharashtra, predicting extremely heavy rainfall. An orange alert has been issued for the state on Wednesday, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall (115.6 to 204.4 mm) from July 26 to July 27. This alert also applies to Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg districts in Maharashtra’s Konkan region.
