Heavy Rain Leaves Delhi Waterlogged, Traffic Hit In Several Areas; IMD Issues Yellow Alert

New Delhi: The national capital witnessed a sudden change in weather as heavy rain drenched parts of the city on Wednesday early morning, bringing respite from the scorching July temperatures. The mercury dipped, and the weather became pleasant after the showers. The capital city recorded a maximum temperature of 36.2 degrees Celsius, which was 1.3 degrees above normal. IMD has issued a yellow alert till July 26.

Delhi Rain: Waterlogging In Many Areas

Severe waterlogging has been reported in several parts of Delhi as rainwater inundated low-lying areas. In the video clips shared by news agency ANI, several areas were inundated with rainwater, leading to long traffic jams which affected commuters, especially, office-goers.At the New Delhi Railway Station, people faced problems in navigating the flooded roads.

Delhi Rain: IMD Issues Yellow Alert

The weather department has issued a Yellow alert for heavy rainfall for Delhi till July 24. According to the weather forecast, we can anticipate a fair amount of rainfall this Wednesday. As for temperatures, they’re likely to fluctuate around a comfortable 26 to 34 degrees Celsius.

The weather forecast suggests we’re due for a bit of rain come Wednesday, with temperatures expected to hover anywhere from a warm 34 degrees to a cooler 26 degrees Celsius.

Delhi Rain: Air Quality Improves

The Air Quality Index (AQI) of the national capital was recorded in the “satisfactory ” category with a reading below 95 due to the sudden downpour.

Rain Lashed Noida

Several parts of Noida received a downpour in the wee hours of Wednesday. Rain lashed sector 16 and sector 18 among other areas, as the India Meteorological Department has issued a “yellow” alert for Delhi-NCR for the next two days.

The weather forecast mentioned for cities like Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Baghpat and neighboring locations shows a probable pattern of moderate to heavy showers in the hours ahead. Such weather changes are driven by various scattered thunderstorms that are generally due to the monsoon trough.
