Weather Update: IMD issues red alert for several states, heavy showers likely in Northeast India for next four days

The IMD has issued a red alert for heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand Kutch, Saurashtra, and Gujarat whereas an orange alert for Coastal Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Konkan.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast in its latest bulletin that there is the presence of a monsoon depression over the Odisha coast. Under its influence isolated extremely heavy rainfall likely over south Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha. A similar weather pattern will be affecting Gujarat for the next 4-5 days. A slight decline in the rainfall activity is likely in the next four days.

Red-Orange alert issued for heavy rainfall zone:

The IMD has issued a red alert for heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand Kutch, Saurashtra, and Gujarat whereas an orange alert for Coastal Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Konkan.

IMD’s prediction for heavy rainfall:

An isolated extremely heavy shower is expected in Gujarat state, Madhya Maharashtra, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, and Konkan from July 21 to July 24. Coastal Karnataka and Chhattisgarh, Kerala, North Interior Karnataka, Telangana, Marathwada, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh may receive heavy rainfall today and Vidarbha might get it on July 22. Moreover, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal are likely to experience it on July 22 and July 23. Bihar will face the same weather pattern from July 23 to July 24. In the next four days, IMD has forecasted heavy downpours for Vidarbha, Coastal & south interior Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha.

The Met Department has also notified that there will be isolated heavy rainfall over Uttarakhand from July 21 to July 23. East Rajasthan is likely to get it on July 23 and July 24. Likewise, Himachal Pradesh will get it on July 22 and July 23. Additionally, isolated heavy precipitation will occur over Haryana, Uttar Pradesh from July 21 to July 24. East Uttar Pradesh and West Rajasthan, from July 22 to July 24. Punjab will deal with the same weather conditions from July 22 to July 23. For the next four days, East Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh may receive wet spells.

Northeast India Weather Update

An average rainfall along with lightning and thunderstorms is expected to happen over Northeastern India in the upcoming four days. On the other hand, isolated heavy showers over Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and Assam are anticipated for today.
