Microsoft Outage: Major Banks, Airlines Across Globe Affected; SpiceJet, Indigo, Akasa Say Ops At Mumbai, Delhi Airports Impacted

Akasa Airlines announced that some of its online services will be temporarily unavailable at the Mumbai and Delhi airports.

Microsoft’s technical glitch causes widespread travel chaos worldwide. Check-in systems at the Mumbai Airport and other airports across India were down causing commotion for passengers on July 19 morning. Airlines particularly IndiGo, Akasa and SpiceJet were affected due to check-in systems down. Passengers around the world were stranded as flights were grounded, operations disrupted. As per airline officials, GoNow , the check in system is facing global outage since 10:45 AM. The check-in systems are down across India. Impact on flights so far has been minimal, some flights being delayed as airlines are using alternate methods like Excel to check-in and manage booking services, officials added. However, web-check in feature temporarily unavailable for passengers across India.

Akasa on Microsoft Outage

Akasa Airlines announced that some of its online services will be temporarily unavailable at the Mumbai and Delhi airports, saying,” Due to infrastructure issues with our service provider, some of our online services, including booking, check-in and manage booking services will be temporarily unavailable.”

The airline added, “Currently we are following manual check-in and boarding processes at the airports and hence request passengers with immediate travel plans to reach the airport early to check-in at our counters. We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused and want to assure you that our teams are working with our service provider to resolve the same at the earliest.”

Indigo on Microsoft Outage

IndiGo said, Our system across the network are impacted by an ongoing issue with Microsoft Azure, which has resulted in increased wait times at out contact centres and airports. You may experience slower check-ins and longer queues. We are all hands-on desk and we are working relentlessly to restore stability and normalcy. Our digital team is also coordinating closely with Microsoft Azure to resolve these issues swiftly. We appreciate tour patience and understanding during this time.”

Thousands of users across the world reported problems with Microsoft 365 apps and services to Downdetector.com, a website that tracks service disruptions.
