The new X-Trail is set to revitalize Nissan’s presence in India as the brand prepares to introduce more exciting products from 2025 onwards.
Nissan has unveiled the fourth-generation X-Trail for India, set to launch shortly.
The SUV will be imported as a completely built unit (CBU). With the X-Trail joining Nissan India’s lineup, the company’s offerings will double, as they currently only have the Magnite compact SUV.

The fourth-gen X-Trail, built on the CMF-C platform, has been available internationally since 2021 in both 5- and 7-seater versions. In India, the three-row model will be available.
The X-Trail boasts a bold, upright design with a split-headlamp setup, a striking ‘V-Motion’ grille in dark chrome, rounded wheel arches with plastic cladding, diamond-cut alloy wheels, and sleek wraparound LED tail-lamps.
Nissan will offer the X-Trail in Diamond Black, Champagne Silver, and Solid White. According to Alfonso Albaisa, Nissan’s Senior Vice President of Design, these colors were selected to give the X-Trail a premium feel.

According to Autocar, the X-Trail measures 4,680mm in length, 1,840mm in width, and 1,725mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,705mm. This 7-seater SUV offers a 5.5m turning radius, 210mm ground clearance, and comes with 255/45 R20 tyres.
Key features include a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, wireless smartphone charger, keyless entry, and push-button start. Additional features are drive modes, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, and cruise control.
The India-spec model will also have a 360-degree camera and paddle shifters. The second row offers a 40/20/40 split-folding, sliding, and reclining function, while the third row provides 50/50 split-folding and reclining capabilities.

Safety features include seven airbags, automatic wipers, ABS with EBD, traction control, a limited-slip differential, hill-start assist, and front parking sensors.
Under the hood, the X-Trail will have a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with a variable compression ratio and a 12V mild-hybrid system, delivering 163 bhp and 300 Nm of torque. This engine will be paired with a shift-by-wire CVT automatic gearbox.
As the X-Trail is a CBU, its price is expected to range between Rs 40 lakh to Rs 45 lakh. This positions it against rivals like the Toyota Fortuner (Rs 33.43 lakh-51.44 lakh), the Fortuner Legender (Rs 43.66 lakh-47.64 lakh), Skoda Kodiaq (Rs 39.99 lakh), MG Gloster (Rs 38.80 lakh-43.16 lakh), and Jeep Meridian (Rs 29.49 lakh-39.83 lakh).
