WhatsApp Testing Channel Pinning Feature Within Updates Tab For iPhone Users; All You Need To Know

WhatsApp, a Meta-owned messaging application, tests new features to improve the user experience. In the latest series, the company is testing a feature to manage and pin channels on the app on iPhones. According to WABetaInfo, the beta feature is rolling out in the iOS beta “24.14.10.78” version and is expected to be available for all users in the upcoming weeks.

According to the news outlet, the feature is undergoing trials in beta and testers can update the app via TestFlight to test the option. The platform was earlier testing a similar feature on Android wherein you can pin up to two channels in the updates tab. The feature is available in a similar form for iPhone testers. As per the screengrab shared in the report, beta users can pin up to two channels in the iOS testing build.

The ‘Pin’ option appears next to ‘Read’ on the extreme left when accessing more options. On the right, ‘More’ and ‘Unmute’ continue to show up while accessing more options. The limitation of pinning just two channels ensures the UI appears less cluttered and is easily manageable. Moreover, this can help ease access to useful information.

The news tracker speculated the option to pin more channels may appear in the future. Even in its current form, the feature can help people save time and enhance the experience of the Updates tab to ensure users can easily read or follow updates to stay informed of the latest activity. Moreover, users can manage channels by marking them as unread and unmute for added accessibility of the feature.

The stated feature also supports bulk actions from the context menu, which includes the option to select multiple channels simultaneously and perform actions based on the available option. To try out the latest enhancements, users must update their beta app through the TestFlight beta program.
