Mumbai’s Regional Meteorological Centre has predicted heavy to very heavy rain in Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, Raigad, Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri districts on Saturday and Sunday
Amid the heavy rain in Mumbai, and its neighbouring Thane, Palghar and Raigad districts, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert (extremely heavy rain) for ghat areas of central Maharashtra till July 16.
Mumbai’s Regional Meteorological Centre, in its five-day forecast, has predicted heavy to very heavy rain in Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, Raigad, Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri districts on Saturday and Sunday.

According to the IMD’s report, extremely heavy rainfall is likely over Konkan and Goa till July 16; Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka on July 14-15; Gujarat Region till July 16; Saurashtra and Kutch on July 16 and 17.
The monsoon trough is at its normal position and extends upto lower tropospheric levels. It is likely to shift south of its normal position from Sunday. The off-shore trough runs along Maharashtra-north Kerala coasts at mean sea level. A cyclonic circulation lies over north Gujarat in lower and middle tropospheric levels and another over West central Bay of Bengal off Coastal Andhra Pradesh in middle tropospheric levels.

West, Central and South Peninsular India: Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning is likely over Konkan and Goa, central Maharashtra, Kerala and Mahe, Lakshadweep, Karnataka, Gujarat state, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh; scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Telangana, Marathwada, Rayalaseema; isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during the next five days.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely at some places over Konkan and Goa; isolated places over central Maharashtra, Gujarat State, Kerala and Mahe, Coastal and South Interior Karnataka during the next five days; isolated heavy rainfall over Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh from July 13-17; Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on 13, 15 and 16; Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam from July 13-15 and Marathwada from July 14-16. East and Northeast India: Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning is very likely over East and Northeast India during the next five days. Heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over Odisha from July 13-17; Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur from July 13-16; Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim from July 13-15; Bihar on July 13 and 14; Jharkhand on July 13; Andaman and Nicobar Islands on July 13 and 14. Isolated very heavy rainfall is also likely over Nagaland on July 14 and Odisha on July 14 and 15.
Northwest India: Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning is very likely over Uttarakhand; scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall over Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan during the next five days. Isolated to scattered rainfall likely over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Punjab, Haryana-ChandigarhDelhi and West Rajasthan during the next five days.
Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan during July 13-17; Uttar Pradesh from July 13-15; northwest Rajasthan, south Haryana on July 13; Himachal Pradesh on July 16-17. Isolated very heavy rainfall is also likely over East Uttar Pradesh on July 13.
