Samsung is gearing up for its next Galaxy Unpacked event, scheduled for July 10, where it is expected to unveil a lineup of highly anticipated devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, Galaxy Ring, Galaxy Buds 3, Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, the Galaxy Watch 7, and Galaxy Watch Ultra. In the lead-up to this event, Samsung has confirmed that the upcoming Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra will feature its new BioActive health sensor.
In a recent blog post, Samsung announced that the next generation of its BioActive health sensor would debut in the “next Galaxy Watch.” This new sensor promises more accurate health measurements than its predecessor in the Galaxy Watch 6 series and will incorporate predictive and preventative wellness features.
The updated BioActive sensor boasts improved photodiode performance and includes Blue, Yellow, Violet, and Ultraviolet LED colours. Additionally, the number of Green, Red, and Infrared LEDs has been increased. The setup allows for more precise readings of various health metrics, including heart rate, sleep, blood pressure, blood oxygen levels, and stress, per Samsung.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra, Watch 7 confirmed features
Samsung claims the new sensor is 30 percent more accurate than the one found in the Galaxy Watch 6 series. It also introduces new features, such as the “Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs) Index”, to provide a detailed view of metabolic health and biological aging.
“Used as an insightful biomarker, this index provides a snapshot of your biological age to help you make more informed decisions about your wellness journey and work towards a healthier future,” Samsung says, adding that “the addition of an AGEs index is just one of the many new advanced features planned for the next Galaxy Watch.”

As the July 10 event approaches, anticipation is building for what Samsung has in store, with the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra and their new BioActive sensor.
Speculation is rife that the Galaxy Watch Ultra will feature a proprietary connection between the case and watch bands, similar to the Apple Watch Ultra. It will have a round display encased in a squircle design, with orange accents and will be available in silver, titanium, and black. The Galaxy Watch 7 will likely retain Samsung’s classic design. The watches will be joined by Samsung’s next wave of foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, the Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro, and also possibly the Galaxy Ring.
