7th Pay Commission: Next DA Hike For Central Govt Employees Soon, Here’s How Much Dearness Allowance Will Increase

7th Pay Commission: After a 4% increase on January 1, a second hike is likely soon and it is expected that DA will increase by 4 to 5% due to inflation.

7th Pay Commission Latest News Today: Time has come now for another hike in dearness allowance for the Central government employees. Once, the DA hike is announced, it will be effective from July 2024. Recently, the Centre increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners by 4%, taking it to 50%, effective January 1, 2024. As the DA reached 50%, several allowances were automatically revised to 25% over the existing rates.

In the meantime, the Central government employees are all set for another dearness allowance (DA) hike in 2024. After a 4% increase on January 1, a second hike is likely soon and it is expected that DA will increase by 4 to 5% due to inflation.

All central government employees must regularly check the official Central Government website for updates on the DA Hike News 2024. If the DA hike is announced, the DA could rise from the current 50% to as much as 55%, offering much-needed relief amid economic challenges.

Meanwhile, there were media reports about the central government employees and pensioners receiving DA arrears that was suspended for 18 months during the COVID-19 pandemic. In a proposal written to PM Modi, Shiva Gopal Mishra, Secretary, National Council (staff side), Joint Consultative Machinery for Central Government Employees, urged the Centre to release the DA arrears of 18 months suspended earlier.

PM Modi Receives Proposal on DA Arrears

In the proposal to PM Modi, Mishra said as a secretary (staff Side) of the National Council (JCM) it is his duty to draw the Centre’s attention to some of the issues which are disturbing the central government employees and pensioners for the past several months.

Earlier, Mukesh Singh, General Secretary, of Bharatiya Pratiksha Mazdoor Sangh, had written a letter to PM Modi and has urged him to release the pending DA arrears of 18 months.

What is DA Hike?

It is for the information of the Central government employees that Dearness Allowance is a component of salary of the government employees and pensioners given to them compensate for the price rise and inflation. The dearness allowance acts as a buffer against rising prices, effectively increasing the take-home pay of government staff and pensioners.

Dearness allowance is reviewed twice a year – first in January and then in July, by the Union government.
