Mahindra Thar 5-door Production Kickstarted in India, Launching Soon

Reports suggested that the launch is expected to take place in August 2024. However, the company is yet to share the official date of the vehicle.

The upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door, which is likely to be called Armada, has created a buzz on the internet, all thanks to spy shots and viral videos of testing. Now, it has been reported that the company has started the production of the off-roader at its plant in Chakan.

Reports suggested that the launch is expected to take place in August 2024. However, the company is yet to share the official date of the vehicle.

Here’s What We Know So Far

After seeing the response of the Thar 3 door, the homegrown car maker reportedly has pushed the production of an upcoming SUV further. Initially, the monthly production was planned for around 2,500 units and around 30,000 units annually.

Now, the strategy seems like has been changed as the brand is likely to produce almost double the units as pre-planned, which might fall between 5,000 to 6,000 units monthly. The annual production could reach close to 70,000 units.

All About Mahindra Thar 5-door

A lot of things already have been revealed on the internet. The SUV is expected to share the same style statement as the 3-door thar, featuring a similar headlight setup, rear design, and side profile. However, it will be bigger, all thanks to the 5-door, and will flaunt an improved wheelbase with extra room inside the cabin.

Engine Options

The upcoming model will be positioned at multiple price ranges due to different powertrain options. From entry-level trim RWD in 1.5-litre diesel to a fully equipped 2.2-litre diesel with 4WD, the vehicle will cater to a wider audience, fulfilling the needs of every customer.

Some speculations say that the SUV is likely to get a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. It will be mated with an automatic gearbox, generating more power and torque.

Top Features

Thar Armada 5-door is also expected to come with a long list of robust features. The upcoming model will have multiple Level 2 ADAS (only in top trims), multiple airbags, fully LED treatment at both ends, improved infotainment screens with all the wireless car connect technology, stylish alloy wheels, and a decent-sized sunroof among others.
