Dengue Alert In Bengaluru, Over 1000 Cases Reported In 3 Weeks; CM Siddaramaiah Instructs Medical Officials, Shares Message For Public

Amid Bengaluru rains and waterlogging in a lot of areas, there has been an alarming rise in dengue cases in the city as compared to last year with over one thousand cases in three weeks. Bengaluru CM Siddaramaiah has given instructions to medical officials and has also shared a message for the public.

Bengaluru: While the whole of North India has been experiencing severe heatwave conditions, most parts of south and north-east India are facing heavy rains. After a long spell of heatwave, the Bengaluru rains have arrived and has also led to waterlogging in a lot of areas. In a latest update, there has been a rise in the number of dengue cases in the Karnataka capital, a major flipside of the rains and the waterlogging caused by it. As compared to last year, the number of cases have gone up significantly and within the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), in the past three weeks, there has been more than one thousand cases in the past three weeks.

Dengue Cases On A Rise In Bengaluru

As mentioned earlier, there has been a surge in the number of dengue cases and in the last three weeks and has surpassed the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) limit of one thousand cases. As compared to June 2023, there has been a twofold increase and in three weeks, 1,036 cases have been reported. Amid those who have tested positive for dengue is Tushar Girinath, the Chief Commissioner of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

Karnataka CM Instructs Medical Officials, Shares Message For Public

The health officials of the Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) are working extensively to control the spread of dengue cases in the city; they are focussing on door-to-door surveys, fogging-spraying and awareness campaigns. Efforts are also being made to get rid of breeding grounds for mosquitoes which is the root cause for the spread of the illness. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has issued special instructions to the medical officials, asking them to pay special attention and focus on detecting and treating the infection. CM Siddaramaiah also met with Dinesh Gundu Rao, the state Health Minister and laid emphasis on the availability of treatment, medicines and blood platelets.

Apart from meeting and discussing dengue with government officials, the Chief Minister of Karnataka also has a message for the public. CM Siddaramaiah has urged the public to cooperate and work in alignment with the state authorities so that together, the disease can be combatted and fought against. The Chief Minister has requested the public to adhere to the instructions issued by the officials and also take the necessary precautions to keep themselves and those around them, safe.
