With the convenience of net banking and debit cards , many people prefer using ATMs over visiting banks for cash withdrawals. However, not all ATM transactions are free, and different banks have specific limits and charges. Here’s a quick guide to the ATM withdrawal charges for customers of SBI , PNB, HDFC, and ICICI banks.

Understanding ATM Withdrawal Charges

The Reserve Bank of India ( RBI ) has mandated that banks can charge customers Rs 21 per transaction beyond the free limit. Generally, the first five transactions from your bank’s ATMs are free. For other banks’ ATMs, metro city customers get three free transactions, while non-metro city customers get five. Beyond these limits, a charge of Rs 21 per transaction applies.

SBI ATM Withdrawal Charges

State Bank of India (SBI) offers five free ATM transactions per month for customers with a monthly balance of up to Rs 25,000. After that, each withdrawal costs Rs 10 plus GST at SBI ATMs and Rs 20 plus GST at other banks’ ATMs. Customers with a balance over Rs 25,000 enjoy unlimited free transactions at SBI ATMs.

PNB ATM Withdrawal Charges Punjab National Bank (PNB) allows five free ATM transactions per month in both metro and non-metro cities. Exceeding this limit incurs a charge of Rs 10 plus GST at PNB ATMs and Rs 21 plus GST at other banks’ ATMs.

HDFC Bank ATM Withdrawal Charges

HDFC Bank customers get five free ATM transactions per month. At other banks’ ATMs, the free limit is three transactions in metro cities. Beyond these limits, a fee of Rs 21 per transaction plus GST applies.

ICICI Bank ATM Withdrawal Charges

ICICI Bank also provides five free transactions per month at its ATMs and three free transactions at other banks’ ATMs. After that, customers are charged Rs 20 per withdrawal and Rs 8.50 for non-financial transactions.
