Spotify Launches New Cheap Ad-Free Plan In The US: Here’s What People Have To Pay

Spotify had increased the price of its existing premium plans in the region but a new ad-free plan helps them get more people to the service.

Online music streaming platform, Spotify has launched a new “Basic” subscription plan for users in the USA. Starting at $10.99 (approximately Rs 920) per month, the basic plan will offer benefits of the platform’s Premium plan without the monthly audiobook listening time. The Basic plan, however, will be extended to only eligible users of Spotify.

The new streaming plan comes a few weeks after Spotify hiked the prices of its Premium plans. The company increased the subscription cost of its Premium Individual plan from $10.99 to $11.99 per month, its Duo premium plan from $14.99 to $16.99, and its Family premium plan, for six members, from $16.99 to $19.99 in the United States.

The Premium plans of the music streaming platform allow users to listen to offline and ad-free music. Additionally, it also offers 15 hours of audiobook listening time per month.

Under the Premium Duo plan, two people living together get all the benefits of premium offline and ad-free music listening for less than two full-priced premium individual accounts. Furthermore, duo plan managers have access to 15 hours of monthly audiobook listening time for $16.99 per month.

The family plan of Spotify offers premium streaming benefits of the Premium plan of the platform for up to six members. Each plan member gets the benefits of Premium with separate accounts, so recommendations are personalised to each user’s listening taste. Spotify’s premium family plan is available for $19.99 per month in the USA.

The Swedish streaming giant has been eyeing to boost its business with an increased focus on margins. The company cut down marketing spending after driving a marketing-heavy customer acquisition plan to improve margins.

Spotify reportedly is also working on a “Supremium” plan for its most loyal. The probable plan will offer all the premium benefits in addition to additional features including high-fidelity audio, better audio and fresh tools for managing song libraries and creating playlists, reported Bloomberg. While the exact subscription cost for this plan remains unknown, the report added that Spotify’s Supermium plan may cost at least $5 (around Rs 400) more per month than the Premium plan.
