Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be releasing the 17th installment of the PM-KISAN scheme amounting to over Rs 20,000 crore for 9.26 crore beneficiary farmers during his Varanasi visit on June 18.
“Ours is a government fully committed to Kisan Kalyan (farmer welfare). It is therefore fitting that the first file signed on taking charge is related to farmer welfare. We want to keep working even more for the farmers and the agriculture sector in the times to come,” the Prime Minister said while making the announcement.

The central scheme offers financial aid to landholding farmers by offering eligible beneficiaries Rs 2,000 every four months, totalling Rs 6,000 annually.
So far, 16 installments have been released by the government, while the 17th tranche is due next week.
Here’s how farmers can check their beneficiary status under the PM-KISAN Scheme online:
- First, visit the official PM-KISAN website at pmkisan.gov.in.
- Once it opens, go to the ‘farmers corner section’ and click on ‘beneficiary status’.
- Now, enter either your Aadhaar or the registered bank account number details and click on ‘get data’. Your beneficiary status will soon appear on the screen.

Now, to complete e-KYC formalities, which ought to be done as soon as possible to avail of the financial assistance being provided by the Centre under the scheme (it has been made mandatory), farmers must opt for either biometric-based e-KYC or OTP-based.
While OTP-based e-KYC can be done on the PM-KISAN portal, Common Service Centres (CSC) or State Seva Kendra can help with biometric-based eKYC.

Here’s how one can complete OTP-Based e-KYC on the portal:
- Visit the home page at https://pmkisan.gov.in/
- Under the ‘Farmers Corner’ look for the e-KYC option and click on the tab.
- Enter your Aadhaar details along with your registered mobile number.
- An OTP will be sent to the mobile phone for verification.
- Once the OTP is entered, the e-KYC process will be complete.
